About a week ago I tried to go to /toy/ and was shocked to find I had been banned from 4chan. Permanently. The charge was posting Anontalk spam. My first reaction was to complain for a mistaken ban, but then reconsidered and ran some scans first. I found some malware on my computer, so I assume my computer had been hijacked and used to spam 4chan. I cleaned things up, got all the latest updates, made sure all auto-updaters were working. I've already looked into that, and found that the only way to change my IP on this ISP is by changing the MAC address. And since I'm not sure I'll know how to do that without screwing things up royally, I'd rather leave it as an option of last resort. For all I know somebody may still review my appeal some day... I hope.

Well, looks like I'm in a similar boat now... my work IP got blocked for spam. I ran some scans and there nothing malicious here, but it's a shared IP I think so who knows what really happened to earn the block. Whatever the reason, I'm pretty much out of luck. Oh well. I shouldn't be on 4chan at work anyways.

Wow. I decided to give changing my MAC address a try to see if I could get back to 4chan again, and before doing that I went to check one more time, and I had been unbanned! It only took them a little over two months do review my appeal. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry.
